The 36th edition of the FIAC (International Festival of Contemporary Art) in Paris will take place from 22 to 25 October 2009 at sites of national heritage such as the Grand Palais, the Louvre’s Cour Carrée or the Tuileries Gardens.
This year the FIAC will bring together 196 modern art and contemporary art galleries, from 21 countries and over 3,500 artists. In close collaboration with all the players on the Parisian artistic scene, the FIAC offers a balanced overview of modern art, contemporary art and emerging creation.
The FIAC is marked by two important initiatives:
- At the Grand Palais, a joint presentation of major modern works, at the initiative of a group of 10 international galleries that are among the world’s best in the field.
- At the Louvre’s Cour Carrée, the presentation, with the support of the Galeries Lafayette group, the official partner of FIAC 2009, of a new sector bringing together 14 international galleries notable for the quality of their future programming.
